Dear PWRD & PWRS community,  

I am writing to inform you that PWRD and PWRS just initiated a Call for Paper on a joint special section called "Hybrid AC/DC Transmission Grids". More information can be found from http://sites.ieee.org/tpwrd/pwrd-resource-site-special-sections-issues/  

For this special section, a new way is adopted to promote your research work, i.e. joint publication of PWRD and PWRS. The motivation and mechanism are explained below. 

HVDC transmission technology has brought many benefits to power transmission. However, HVDC links need to be built along with the existing AC transmission grids. It has become increasingly evident that the future power transmission systems will become interwoven networks of AC and DC subsystems, i.e, hybrid AC/DC transmission grids. 

In view of this major trend in the evolution of power transmission systems and the unique characteristics of hybrid AC/DC grids, i.e. the strong coupling between apparatus level behaviors with system wide responses, we launch this  special section to cover various advancements in the R&D of hybrid grids. 

The special section, therefore, welcomes the submission of original work from power systems, power apparatus and power electronics perspectives. After receiving an abstract, the guest editorial board will determine which Transaction is a better fit for the work. Authors then submit full papers to the designated transaction. When the special section is published, a review and summary of all accepted papers will be published in both transactions along with their respective papers. Thus all papers can be easily accessed by PWRD as well as PWRS communities.
